'Phantom Limbs' was recorded in 2009, but the material was shelved until 2012, when Land of Decay (the now defunct label founded by the members of Locrian) offered to release it on a cassette in the summer of 2012. Even though it was a limited release, it was well-received by the media and fans. It even charted at #9 on SPIN Magazine's best avant-garde albums of 2012. In addition to 'Phantom Limbs', the tracks from the 'Luftpost' EP (which was recorded during the same period) are included on this release as bonus tracks. 'Luftpost' was released as a limited 3-inch CDR on Thisquietarmy Records in 2009 for his first European tour with Nadja. Now both titles are available together as a 61-minute CD, presented in a digipack.
